AMCORP GROUP BERHAD’s YEAR END PARTY 2011
After the gratifying Christmas celebrations with underprivileged children and orphans from shelter homes, orphanages from Klang and Selangor, the year end festive mood was further amplified with yet another exciting event, the Amcorp Group Berhad’s (“Amcorp”) Year End Party 2011!

The year end party, held on 30th December 2011 at the Amcorp Training Room, was graced by the presence of Mr Soo Kim Wai, Managing Director of Amcorp and Encik Azmi Hashim, Chairman of Amcorp Properties Berhad.

This year marks the 2nd year the Year End Party is held. The event provides staff an opportunity to bond with each other as well as to celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of Amcorp during the year.

The simple party began around 3pm when the emcee kick started the event with his welcoming speech. After brief introductions and greetings, the highlight of the party, Amcorp’s Flash Back Video for the Year 2011 was unveiled. The video, featuring various prized achievements of Amcorp throughout the year, rendered everyone with a sense of pride to see that they were apart of all these remarkable accomplishments.

Significant successes featured in the video included footages of Amcorp receiving the coveted Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (“ACCA”)’s Approved Employer Award in which Amcorp was awarded two prestigious awards ie the ACCA Approved Employer-Professional Development Award and also the ACCA Approved Employer-Trainee Development, Platinum Level Award.

The video also commemorated Amcorp’s various employee development efforts such as the City and Guilds Diploma in Business Programme, which is the result of collaborative efforts between Amcorp and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman’s Centre for Extension Education, the Executive Development Programme, a twenty four months practical training programme which provides structured hands-on learning opportunities to fresh graduates to be exposed to the different businesses within the Group. Another staff development effort highlighted was the Amcorp Study Grant, which is administered by Yayasan Azman Hashim, a non profit charitable institution which provides financial assistance to outstanding students to pursue their tertiary education.

Clips of Amcorp’s Property Business’ triumphs such as the acquisition of Amcorp Trade Centre for RM75m, the disposal of its office buildings in London which led to a staggering gain on disposal of approximately RM66m were other key highlights of the video. Glimpses of Amcorp’s new property launches such as the prestigious Kayangan Heights development in Shah Alam and its Seri Mutiara development in Salak South Garden were also featured in the video.

In addition to this, the year saw the opening of Amcorp Auto Sdn Bhd’s (“Amcorp Auto”) showroom at Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur. Amcorp Auto is Amcorp’s latest venture into the motoring industry which has been appointed as the 3S ie Services, Sales and Spare Parts authorized dealer for Volkswagen Malaysia. Footage of another subsidiary, Harpers Travel’s relocation of its branch office in Penang was shown in the video as well.

The video went on to show clips of various Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) events organized by Amcorp throughout the year. Some notable CSR events included the Chinese New Year Celebration gathering for the elderly folks from Persatuan Kebajikan Chi Hang Cempaka, the Hari Raya Buka Puasa dinner with the children and caregivers of RTH Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Kuala Selangor as well the Christmas Celebration gatherings with underprivileged children and orphans from Rumah Kids, Agathian Shelter and Shelter One.

The video concluded with various delightful shots of Amcorp’s memorable events such as the Amcorp 101st Birthday Celebration, the Hari Raya staff gathering, Paint Ball games and most unforgettable of all, the victorious conquer of Malaysia’s highest peak, Mount Kinabalu.

After the video, Mr Soo Kim Wai gave a short speech and everyone was all thrills and cheers when he announced that there will be an upcoming company trip to reward employees. Destination: To one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, said to be one of the most beautiful masterpieces of architecture in the world. Flawlessly proportionate and built as a Shrine of Love, it is none other than the ever famous, The Taj Mahal.

After such exciting news, the party progressed to yet another favourite for all, food time! Several varieties of cakes and confectionery from our very own Restoran Seri Melayu were delicately laid out on the tables together with other finger foods such as chicken wings and deep fried spring rolls. Desserts were top of the popularity list with the pandan flavoured agar-agar or jelly claiming the crown. Lively chatter and loud laughter can be heard around the corridors of Amcorp’s office, clearly indicating that everyone was just letting their hair down and having a wonderful time at the party.

Games were next on the list with two games lined up. The first, being the Whisper Game and the second, Charades. Staff were divided into groups and competed against each other in an attempt to win prizes sponsored by the Company. There were so many funny gestures and actions demonstrated by some of the staff during the games that made it hard for one to believe that these were the same group of people who made all the remarkable accomplishments of Amcorp happen. While the judges counted the scores for each of the team, the party proceeded with the Gift Exchange segment. Numbers representing staff’s names were pulled out and gifts with the same corresponding number were presented to the staff picked. The gifts were both bought by the staff as well as sponsored by the Company. After the last name was called, Amcorp’s Year End Party for Year 2011 ended with the Prize Giving ceremony with prizes being given out to each and every member of the winning team for each of the games played. It was all smiles and laughter as one by one, the staff of Amcorp made their way home at around 6pm.
